MacroOne Privacy Policy

Effective June 16, 2026

MacroOne is a nutrition and macro-tracking app, built to be private by default. This policy explains what data the app handles and how.

The short version

Information stored on your device

Your logged foods and meals, calorie/macro goals, weight entries, activity settings, and any profile details you enter (age, sex, height) are stored locally on your phone. This is not transmitted to us and is removed if you delete the app.

Apple Health

If you grant permission, MacroOne reads your step count, active energy, exercise minutes, and stand hours from Apple Health to display your daily activity rings. This data is used on your device only — never transmitted to our servers, shared, sold, or used for advertising. You can revoke access any time in the iOS Health app or Settings. MacroOne does not write any data to Apple Health.

AI-powered features

Some features send a small amount of input to a processing service to return nutrition information: voice/text meal logging (the words you enter), label scanning (the photo of the facts panel), and restaurant estimates (the item name). These requests are routed through our server (on Cloudflare) to Anthropic's Claude API for processing. Under Anthropic's API terms, inputs are not used to train their models. We don't attach your identity to these requests and don't retain the photos or text on our server beyond returning your result. If the AI service is unavailable, a label photo may instead be sent to OCR.space to extract its text; the same principles apply.

Food database lookups

When you search foods or scan a barcode, the term or barcode is sent to public food databases — Open Food Facts and the USDA FoodData Central — to return matches. These contain no personal information about you.

What we do not do

No accounts or logins. No advertising or ad identifiers. No third-party analytics or tracking SDKs. No selling or sharing of personal data.

Children

MacroOne is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes

We may update this policy as the app evolves; material changes appear here with a new effective date.
